스칸디나비아의 여성 보컬 트리오 ‘트리오 메디에발’의 두 전작들은 북미를 중심으로 대단한 성공을 누렸다. 이번 새로운 앨범은 영국과 프랑스의 13-14세기 음악과 1973년에 태어난 한국의 현대 작곡가 홍성지의 음악을 결합시켜 대비시키고 있다. 홍성지의 <루멘 다 루미네> 미사는 2002년 트리오 메디에발을 위해 쓰여진 곡으로, 여성 보컬의 복잡한 테시투라를 미묘하게 이용하면서 30여분 동안 정교한 소노리티를 창조하고 있다. 색채감과 이미지 그리고 질감들은 끊임없이 탐험해 나가는 이 곡은 오직 주의 깊은 감상자만이 현대음악이라는 것을 알아차릴 정도로 중세 후기의 통상 미사의 전형적 세팅을 출발점으로 삼고 있다. 따라서 퍼르니휴와 호소카와와 같은 아방가르드 작곡가들을 사사했지만, 홍성지의 음악은 난해함과는 거리가 먼 신선한 아름다움으로 가득 차 있다.
