로시니, 페르골레시, 비발디 등 많은 작곡가들이 ‘스타바트 마테르’를 만들었다. 그 중, 비발디의 스타바트 마테르는 유명하기도 워낙 유명한 걸작이지만, 애절한 멜로디와 가사로 인해 듣는 이들을 무척 감상적으로 빠지게 하는 치명적인 매력이 있는 작품이기도 하다. 특히 본 앨범에서는 캐나다 출신의 정상급 카운터테너 ‘다니엘 테일러’가 그 역량을 십분 발휘하고 있어, 지금까지 나온 숱한 비발디의 스타바트 마테르 명반들과도 견줄만하다. 특히 마지막 작품 바흐의 모테트에서는 영국의 국보급 고음악 전문 소프라노 가수 ‘엠마 커크비’도 함께 하고 있어, 최고의 레퍼토리와 최고의 아티스트들이 만들어낸 2009년 최고의 음반이라 평가하고 싶다.
