1978년 발표되어 다음해 초에 열린 Grammy Award 에서 Best Disco Recording 상을 수상한 . Gloria Gaynor의 원곡으로 그후 Diana Ross,Cake, 이광조등 많은 뮤지션 에 의해 리메이크와 샘플링되고 다시 불려져 아직까지도 많은 사랑을 받고있는 " I Will Survive~!

Gloria Gaynor는 1975년 잭슨 파이브의 'Never Can Say Goodbye'를 디스코풍으로 리메이크, 빌보드 차트에 신설된 'Disco Action Charts' 부문에 서 1위를 차지하며 본격적으로 주목을 받기 시작했다.
데뷔 이후 1981년까지 매년 음반을 발매해 히트시켰는데 역시 그 정점을 이룬 것은 1979년 빅 히트를 기록한 'I Will Survive'의 대성공! 우리나라의 많은 젊은이들에게는 진주의 노래 '난 괜찮아'가 더 친숙하겠지만 글로리아 게이너의 오리지널 'I Will Survive'는 디스코 시대를 대표하는, 아니 댄스 음악을 대표하는 명곡 중의 하나로 꼽히고 있다. 실제로 지난 2000년 'VH1'이 뽑은 '역대 최고의 댄스 음악 100곡'에서 'I Will Surviv'는 수많은 경쟁자들을 물리치고 당당히 1위 자리를 차지 하기도 했다. 이곡으로 1980년 열린 그래미 시상식에서 '최우수 디스코 레코딩'부분을 수상했지만 이 무렵을 기점으로 디스코의 열기는 급격히 식어갔고 'I Will Surviv'는 그녀의 유일한 수상작으로 기록되었다.
1983년 하이 에너지(Hi NRG)풍의 유로 댄스 싱글 'I Am What I Am'이 히트하긴 했지만, 1980년대와 1990년대를 통해 디스코의 시대는 돌아오지 않았고, 더불어 Gloria Gaynor 역시 기억 속으로 묻히는 듯 했다. 그러나 영화 사운드 트랙 등에 참여하면서 꾸준한 활동을 보이다 2001년 'Just Keep Thinkin' About You'가 빌보드의 댄스/클럽 차트에 서 1위를 차지하고, 디스코 시대의 유명한 프로듀서 겸 작곡가 조지오 모로더 트리뷰트에 실은 'Last night'이 유럽지역 차트 1위에 오르며 그녀는 재기에 성공하였다.
